Cheaper Flights has put together travel advice to help you better prepare for your cheaper holiday.

We advise you use this travel advice for your information but also check advice given by your travel agent and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

Passports and Visas

Don't leave it to the last minute. Always check your passport is valid before leaving. Some countries require your passport to be valid for at least 6 months so please bare this is mind before traveling. Please check the minimum period your passport should be valid upon entry to your destination by contacting their Embassy or Consulate.

Make copies of your documents, contact numbers and your itinerary and leave a copy at home with a member of your family.

Visas may be required to enter your travel destination. Make sure you check requirements with your travel agent and the Embassy or Consulate for the country you are traveling to.

Travel Insurance

Make sure your cover is appropriate. Always take your policy documents with you.

Vaccinations

Make sure you check which vaccinations are needed at least 6 weeks before you travel.

You can get more information about required vaccinations from the Department of Health.

Travel Money and Credit Cards

Always take enough money for your trip. It's not always a good idea to exchange money abroad as currency exchange shops may not be as easily available as in the UK.

Make sure you have some foreign currency and take into account the time and day of arrival as banks abroad may be closed in the afternoon and weekends in certain countries.

Exchange money at legal foreign exchange dealers and always keep he receipt.

Remember to take your credit card cancellation numbers incase you loose them or they are stolen.

Check with the travel agent and hotel for security cover in your accommodation. Make use of the hotel safe to store any valuables, however always obtain a receipt.

Guide and Phrase Book

Guide books are a great way to plan your holiday and get information about the country you are visiting.

They can also be a great way to find out about local laws, customs and culture.
